Our comprehensive curriculum is designed to teach aspiring nail technicians the latest techniques in nail care, nail enhancements, and creative designs. From natural nail health and maintenance to advanced applications like acrylics, gels, and intricate nail art, you’ll gain hands-on experience in all aspects of manicuring.

Manicuring Student Objectives

  • Master Nail Care Techniques: Develop a strong foundation in nail health, including proper care for natural nails, cuticle treatments, and nail shaping, to provide high-quality manicuring services.

  • Perform Advanced Nail Enhancements: Gain hands-on experience with advanced nail treatments such as acrylics, gel nails, nail art, and extensions, ensuring you can deliver both classic and creative designs.

  • Understand Nail Anatomy and Health: Build knowledge of nail structure, disorders, and diseases to provide safe, effective treatments and maintain healthy nails for your clients.

  • Adhere to Sanitation and Safety Protocols: Learn and apply the highest standards of sanitation, disinfection, and sterilization to ensure a safe and hygienic workspace, in compliance with industry regulations.

  • Develop Client Communication and Service Skills: Cultivate professionalism and excellent customer service, learning how to conduct thorough consultations and deliver personalized, high-quality client care.

  • Prepare for a Thriving Career in Nail Artistry: Equip yourself with business skills, marketing strategies, and industry insights to confidently establish and grow your career as a licensed nail technician in salons, spas, or through independent practice.

 

California State Board Certification Requirements

Laws and Regulations

Understanding the Cosmetology Act and state board rules and regulations, focusing on legal requirements for the profession.

Nail Care Chemistry

Study of the chemical composition of nail care products, including acrylics, gels, and other treatments, as well as their safe application and removal.

Health and Safety/Hazardous Substances

Training on the safe handling of chemicals used in nail care establishments, understanding material safety data sheets (MSDS), preventing chemical injuries, and following safety and health laws and agency guidelines.

Disinfection and Sanitation

Thorough procedures for disinfecting instruments and equipment to protect the health of both the consumer and technician. Emphasis on performing proper sanitation before and after every service.

Bacteriology, Anatomy, and Physiology

Study of nail structure, disorders, and the physiology of hands, arms, and feet to understand how treatments affect these areas.

Manicures and Pedicures

Hands-on training in water and oil manicuring, pedicuring techniques, and massage for hands, arms, feet, and ankles. Includes both traditional and advanced treatments like acrylic, gel, and encapsulated nails.

Electric Filing and Advanced Nail Art

Safe use of electric filing devices, along with techniques for creating nail art, such as stenciling, stamping, and freehand designs.

Professionalism and Client Relations

Developing skills in client communication, professional ethics, and business management, ensuring students can deliver excellent customer service and build lasting client relationships.

Additional Training

Training on salon management, sales techniques, and client record keeping. Includes preparation for job interviews, resume writing, and strategies for successfully entering the job market.
